To get some idea's of what to use in my own advertisement, I have looked at some different adverts, to see which conventions they use and also the design which has been used. This will help to give me some idea of what to use on my own advert.
Because I have based my music video on Lady GaGa's Bad Romance track, I have looked at advertisements which promote Lady GaGa's tracks to give me some idea of what to use in my own advert.
This is the album cover for Bad Romance, it's advertising the track and the video. The cover is advertising the track more than the actual video for Bad Romance, but it will give me some idea of what to use on my actual advertisement.
The album cover is red, the only other bit of colour on this album is the artists name and the name of the track. These are both written in white. Underneath the track and artist's name, is the word 'The Remixes', this is also written in red, except the bottom of the letters have shadows.
There is a photograph of the artist, around the photo is a thin black line which goes appears to go all the way around the artist, almost as if it is an outline.
Behind the artist's head is a black shadow in the corner. The shadow only takes up a little bit of the space on the album cover. Also in one top corner of the cover is a set of wavy thin whites which go across one side of the cover to the over. In between the lines is circles of white light, there is the same design in the bottom corner of the cover.
In the left hand corner of the cover in white writing is the word 'Caiot' which could possibly be a recording company.
The only convention this album cover uses are; the main title, strap line and the photo.
The next advertisement I looked at was; the artist's advert for her upcoming tour 'The Monster Ball'
This is the advertisement for 'The Monster Ball Tour'. The advertisement has a simple design, the background colour is black with a simple white writing font. The main title is the words 'The Monster Ball Tour'. The words 'Monster Ball' is written in a larger font than 'the' and 'tour'. Underneath the word 'tour' there is a grey line and than the words 'starring Lady GaGa'. The artists name is written in a bold white writing font. All the writing is written in a white bold font, it is a simple font.
The main photograph is the artist sat in a ball-like chair with people surrounding her, the picture is quite simple. The artist is looking at the camera, with her body turned towards the camera. The people surrounding her are mainly all sat down, apart from two people at the end next to the artist.
This poster has all the conventions you would expect to see on a advertisement, it has a main title, a strap line, a main photograph and in the corner has a name which seems to be supporting the tour.
This is another example of a magazine advertisement. This is the advertisement for Gwen Stefani's album Love.Angel.Music.Baby. The main photo is of Gwen Stefani sat on a chair. The photo has blurred background colours, the main photo is not blurred though. The background looks like an oil painting with the blurred colours.
Across the main photo is the artist's name. The name is written in gold coloured font. Underneath the artist's name is the album name written in the same photo as the name. The album name is written in a smaller font. Underneath this and in a smaller font still is the singles which are included on the album.
There is the photo from the album cover on the poster too, the album cover photo is the same as the magazine advertisement photo. There is also a website address for the artist at the bottom of the page along with the producers and the record company name.
